So yesterday I got to host a Sydney social Instagram account called @ccsyd. It’s one of those ‘pass the baton’ concepts where people do a day-in-the-life for everyone to share and then pass it on.
Many people think social media is impersonal but I find it the complete opposite. I love the way it helps you connect to people you wouldn’t otherwise have met (like you!) and it even more weaves a community feel when it’s based around your own city!
Here are my photos from the day in the life of @thisismelly.
Seriously, doing my workout outdoors is so much better than at the gym. It never gets boring with this view!
I can’t explain to you how happy Harley is running
next ahead of me! Especially with a stick in his mouth!
Picking up coffee from my fave local cafe Kebo on my way home from the run is the best. And check out their new graffiti art work!
I’ve been doing a project here at a client site for almost a year now! Channel 7 & Pac Mags is in the building so I get to see a few famous faces; Koshie, Home & Away actors, Jackie Frank from Marie Claire, Better Homes & Gardens presenters and random celebs coming in for interviews. Its fun!
Our senior manager Ben came to meet with Mands & I and took us for lunch at The Grounds…yum!
Capturing a pic of this amazing street art on my way home…
Any excuse to take photos of flowers!
This view never gets old.
After Jay arrived home from work we took Harley down to see the light show on as part of the Vivid Festival. We got ‘naked burritos’ from Mad Mex and sat on the wharf.
Loved sharing my day with the Insta-world; hope you enjoyed it too!
what a wonderful weekend.

this afternoon we had a horrible scare with Harley; out of the blue he had a seizure. He fell over with his legs all stiff, his jaw locked shut, eyes wide open and his head shaking. Jay held him while I called the vet who talked us through it until Harley came out of the seizure. He was drooling and still shaking on the way to the vet. Dr Nathan, who also has a little cavoodle, gave him a thorough check-up before giving him the OK and instructions for us to keep an eye on him and to remove any possible toxins from his environment (eg access to the ground coffee beans we put on the potted herb plants on the balcony). He may never have a seizure again, but then he could develop epilepsy. But he’s OK now and back to his usual self, we just have to watch and hope for the best.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
languid hours in sun,
embedded in the autumn grass;
premature winter winds gently nudge while the last remnants of the summer sun haze around the edges like yesterday’s hangover
autumn in Sydney is a delightful season;
clear skies, calm harbour
friends & family milking the last of the weekend sun with
picnics and footy in the park
this weekend we entertained friends at home,
grounded ourselves in the park,
enjoyed wine & food at a local festival
this life of ours,
this love of ours
happy weekend my friend
How’s everyone’s Easter break?
I’ve been loving the extra long four day weekend spent at home in a love bubble with Jay and Harley.
The week past was full of cramming work in before the holidays, getting my healthy eating back on track and catching up with family & friends.
The only low is that Jay’s Dad’s cancer is back; in his liver this time around which means intensive chemo starting next week. We’re focusing on sending good thoughts and lots of love his way.
and later on date night; Hoopla under the Big Top in Darling Harbour. It was super fun but a little weird when the trapeze artist got the shits with her clothing and took off her top mid-way through the routine! Flying boobies with the flying trapeze!
Happy Easter Sunday xx
When I was young I was home-schooled for 18 months while my parents traveled around Australia with my brother & I. I’ve seen most of these places first hand and I can say without a doubt that Australia is amazing; full of diversity and beauty that at times is so intense it takes your breathe away.
Happy Weekend Everyone
