As a young girl growing up I would sneak around the neighbourhood, scissors in hand, stealing permanently borrowing beautiful flowers (& often weeds, grasses or branches I deemed pretty enough) to put on our dining table.
I kept a running list of the things I would have/do as an adult when I had my own place and my own money (things that I more than often rattled off to my parents in a defiant tone) which I actually still refer back to today!
One of those things was having a weekly bunch of fresh blooms on my table.
I never look at fresh flowers as a waste of money, as I know some people do. To me, they are an investment in the happiness of my soul. A fresh bouquet; however simple or extravagant always makes me feel happy.
I always Instagram my weekly bunch with the hash tag #FridayFlowers, because that’s when I buy them; just in time for the weekend so I can enjoy them for two whole days before the working week steals my daylight hours.
Here are a few I’ve grabbed from my Instagram feed to share with you;
Honey Grevillea
pink & yellow Chrysanthemums
Proteas
White daisies and Freesias
Lavender & white Cushion Pompon
Glasshouse Roses, white Pompon, Gerberas, Oriental Lilies & Eucalyptus leaves
Australian Natives; Banksia, Thryptomene, Pin-cushion Protea & some others I’m not sure of!
Oriental Lilies (my wedding flowers!) & white Gladiolus
white Dahlias & blue Hydrangeas
♥
Can’t you just smell them all?!
