today we hiked over a mountain to the most beautiful, remote & rugged shore.
near Jackson’s Bay, on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island, we discovered wild blue ocean waves, foaming white as they crashed into the rocks stoically standing along the shore.
my husband has been teaching me to drone. he has a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom which is a marvel of machinery. it fares brilliantly in the windiest of conditions and takes epic photography and film footage.
I’m on holidays this week because there comes a point when you just need some downtime off work for no reason other than your own sanity’s sake.
Today Harley & I drove out of the city on an adventure for some ‘earth time’ and here’s what we got up to
The Stanwell Tops Lookout wasn’t busy considering it is a week day. A local hang-glider was waiting for some wind so we chatted while his dog Pup the cavoodle and Harley (the cavoodle) had an impromptu play date! I ate my little picnic overlooking the bluest ocean and lay on the grass breathing in the warm salty air.
We continued on into the National Park where the sun was shining, the spring air was warm and scented by wattle trees. We discovered a little river and spotted two water dragons sunning themselves.
Content with a day out of the hustle & bustle of city life, we started the hour and a half long drive back, Harley with his furry little head eternally hanging out the window and me singing my heart out to Coldplay on the stereo.
We spent the last week in beautiful Byron Bay, the most easterly location in Australia, walking along the beach, exploring local farms & little country towns, grazing the farmer’s markets & making gourmet meals with the amazing produce, curled up watching movies in the unseasonal downpour, collecting seashells, drinking great wine and just relaxing, enjoying each other’s company.
What a fabulous holiday… I’m blissful!
Hope you’ve all be well and safe and happy,
sparkling azure ocean
crystal clear waters
colourful lively reefs
fresh coconuts & cold beers
daily baskets of the freshest fruit
hours gently swinging in a hammock
lazy afternoon chess battles
sunset beach strolls
dancing under the stars
the ten days Jay & I spent at Tokoriki Island Resort in Fiji in 2010 was one of the best holidays we’ve had.
we left relaxed, tanned & romanticized with the most delicious memories.
