his + hers | christmas gifts under $100

it’s almost shameful to admit, but i’m not a christmas person at all! maybe it’s because my mum is so overly christmassy (think flashing Santa earrings, lots of decorations, planning/shopping/cooking for days & a gigantic tree) and i don’t have kids to decorate for or maybe it’s just not my thing.
anyway, now that i’ve admitted my dirty secret, i’d like to back peddle and state that this year my husband has strong-armed me into getting a tree! and a wreath for the front door! and some baubles for the tree! (it’s sad that I don’t even have baubles!) we’re doing all that today, which is sunday, with a hangover from an impromptu epic 12 hour drinking session in the hot sun yesterday, so we’ll just have to see how much christmas spirit i can rustle up!

however, i have been thinking about gifts and found some gorgeous pieces that won’t break the budget and will still impress. these are mostly all from aussie websites but they do ship internationally.

  1. I think after reading about your impromptu 12 hour bender, subsequent hangover andhaving no kids… Yeah we’d soooo get on!! 🙂
Enjoy trying to get festive love!!
We’re still upside down at home so until the decorators get their arse in gear were tree less…

    1. Hehe, I can imagine how unmotivated you’d be to decorate after a great holiday and in the middle of renovations!!! As for the hangover I’m nursing, I am cursed with NEVER being able to sleep in when I feel like arse, so it’s not even 7.30am on Sunday and I’ve been up for the last hour!!! Happy weekend to you!!!

  2. Hi Mel, it is my sister and her hubby’s tradition to open a bottle of bubbles when decorating the Christmas tree, which may help your hangover?? Kx ps I think, we may actually join that tradition, once I find our Christmas tree and decorations, as still in the madness of renovating and boxes!

    1. Hi Kirsty, Im liking that tradition and I am going to adopt it! We couldnt agree on a tree yesterday, so I bought 2 baubles and then we retired from xmas shopping because the crowds were too hectic to deal with!!! we did spend a few hours looking at trees and decorations on pinterest, so it wasnt a total waste!!! good luck with your renovating and decorating!!!

  3. I’m thinking it sounds like you’ve had a great weekend so far, and I hope that the hangover somehow adds to the “charm” of doing some decorating. And, I agree, pop open some bubbles and it’ll help you’ll kill two birds with one stone! Good luck, love! xo

  4. I have things to say.
    1) Ian, like Jay, was hell bent on getting a Christmas tree a few years ago. He forced me to buy one, even though I knew I’d loathe putting it up every year. We spent hundreds of dollars on decorations and he’s only helped put it up ONCE! He finds it boring. SO DO I!

    2) I have a love hate relationship with Christmas. I love to buy gifts and I love the religious aspect of it and also the family catch ups. But I also find December a bit tedious because we feel obligated to fit in all three of our families, which leaves no time for friends. That makes me sad.

    3) I think that the Jackson and Williams families should start a new tradition. As as a group of friends that are LIKE family we should start celebrating Thanksgiving each year. That’s such a beautiful holiday, where you get to feel grateful for things and people and gather with loved ones. Let’s alternate between our houses and make it an annual event! Turkey! Pumpkin pie! No bad memories or Christmas baggage, only good ones to make from scratch from 2015.

    1. Jay wants a real tree, and after a lot of research apparently we have to get it from the Eveleigh markets…he’s so particular sometimes!

I always feel for you during December because of all the family commitments. Imagine if everyone actually gets divorced??? that will be 5 family christmases!!!

I LOVE the idea of Thanksgiving. Besides Halloween, it’s the best American holiday and one that everyone can adopt because its cross cultural! Let’s do it! Plus we all have a combined obsession with Pumpkin and Pecan pie…we’re going to have to perfect recipes…I feel a Martha Stewart binge coming on!

This year, if the weather is good, Jay & I have decided to spend xmas day on the beach with a kilo of prawns, some cold turkey slices and mangoes. Sounds perfectly no fuss for me!!!

      xx
