whats in the ground belongs to you

The title of this blog is named after a song by If These Trees Could Talk.

It also reminds me of the fact that Sookie belongs to Eric and Eric belongs to Sookie.

Yesterday I received my much anticipated 10th book in the Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris, direct from the publisher via Amazon.com (I had preordered it so it shipped as the publisher released it). Last night and this morning (instead of going for my walk…well it was raining) and at lunchtime today I read and finished the book.

You know those books that you just LOVE and OBSESS over and wish you were either a character in the book, or the characters were real and involved somehow with you IRL? Well, thats how I feel about Sookie, Eric and the rest of the Bon Temps / Shreveport crew. I am sad that I finished the book so soon. I read every word slowly, making a conscience decision to try and slow down to make it last longer, but alas it is finished and I’ll have to wait another bloody frickin year til book 11 arrives…

For the time being, at least I’ll have True Blood the TV series, which starts again next month, so I can get my fix. It isnt the same, but its good and Eric is alive on the screen in all his Nordic Viking glory (courtesy of the very talented and insanely gorgeous Alexander Skarsgard)! Since TB aired, I have now found myself imagining the TV characters as the book characters…magnificent casting by Alan Ball and co!
