Himalayan CharGrill, Glebe

On Friday night we had planned to go ‘Baja Cantina’ but stupidly didnt book…so after wandering up and down Glebe Pt Rd for while while Jay complained that “this would be the worst food night ever” now that we couldnt have Mexican…we were drawn into a colourful little restaurant by a Himalayan hawker giving out taste-tests of the most succulent roast potatoes (Himalayan style, of course)…

What awaited us was the most unexpected & delicious surprise! Himalayan food!

To Start
We shared the ‘Poleko Bhanta’ which is this fragrant 3 piece entree of chargrilled chicken strips, roast capsicum and coriander, wrapped in roasted eggplant and generously drizzled with chilli, coriander and mint pesto.

Poleko Bhanta, $13.90

In the Middle
Excitably, we impatiently awaited our mains… for Jay; a Goat curry in “secret chef spices” which, according to my Samoan warrior, was tender and delicious and “such an under utilised meat”, accompanied by another dish of tender pink strips of chargrilled lamb with roasted potatoes (mmm potato), and sides of rice and Indian-ish accompaniments of Spiced yogurt, Tomato onion salsa, Mango chutney and Hot tomato pickled relish.

Himalayan Goat Curry, $17.90

For me; it was the menu special of Adawa Lamb Shank which was cooked in the traditional way with Himalayan spices, fresh ginger, onion, capsicum all swimming in a tomatoey sauce. It was devine!

Aduwa Lamb Shanks, $15.90

The Roti was seriously so light and fluffy and warm, I wanted to curl up under the table and cuddle it!

hot, fluffy Roti, $3

We were so stuffed that we couldnt entertain the possibility of dessert, so with happy bellies, we called for the bill.

a minty sweet end
